Maximising Your Income

Feedback from many drivers and operators confirms that driver takings are at record levels and, with the object of the game to have your meter on as often as possible, there are a few suggestions we would like to give based mainly on driver feedback.

-  Work on a radio booking/hail ratio of at least 50%, around 20 radio jobs per shift is a realistic target.

- Keep the time with your meter off to a minimum, 5 or 6 short jobs an hour is generally more lucrative than the one long job when you consider the flagfall plus booking fee if applicable.

- Check your area stats and use your cover screen to secure a job as soon as possible. Do not run empty to the airport from miles away without at least checking for available radio work.

- Do NOT set your district to the airport. This excludes you from around 40% of radio work booked automatically and any airport jobs will, in most cases, be the first allocated so you will receive them if holding. Research shows that around 20% of cars setting airport district will actually receive an airport booking. This means other drivers who come to the airport will have run empty and, with the increased fuel costs, this is questionable behaviour. Be assured, the multi fleet operators do not want drivers to do this.

- Use your stats screen, the higher earners will not wait at the airport if there are too many cars and, invariably, will have a job in Hendra, Nundah, Clayfield etc before they hit Sandgate Rd.

- Be as friendly and helpful as possible. Follow Anthony Young's example of top quality customer service and it is certainly realistic to target $100 per week in tips. Work that out on an annual basis.
