Dec 2005 - Better Taxi Facilities for Domestic Terminal
With record numbers of passengers using Brisbane Airport, the Domestic Terminal roads have reached capacity.
Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) is investing $4.5 million to upgrade the Domestic Terminal road network. It is the first step in BAC’s roll-out of $1.5 billion in infrastructure projects over the next seven years.
These works, scheduled to occur outside peak travel times will deliver many important benefits including a more efficient and accessible single undercover Taxi Rank.
The new single rank providing level pedestrian access to taxis is due to be operational early next year.
Taxi passengers will enter the undercover rank from just outside the terminal. They will move through to the head of the queue where they will be directed down a loading area wide enough to cater for double loading to the ten taxi bays.
Access for taxis to the feeder via Dryandra Road will remain unchanged whilst taxi flow from the feeder to the rank will not have to merge or cross general terminal traffic.
